Money terms explained
Understand the terms and choices you see in NiyaJar.
Current balance
Earlier activity is history already reflected in this balance.
Example balance: $1,000.00 − $25.50 = $974.50.
Expected income
Save a forecast without changing cash. Use an existing entry if it is already recorded.
Transfer
A transfer moves money between your accounts. It is not income or spending.
Edit category plan
Planning only: saving or moving an allocation changes category limits. It does not transfer money or change account balances.
Protected from everyday spending
Link goals to their funding account to avoid reserving money twice.
New goal
Goal amounts are reservations within your account balances, not separate money.
Recovery key
Keep this recovery key somewhere safe outside this device. Anyone with this key and your encrypted saved budget can read your budget. It unlocks existing data; it cannot replace a lost phone's data.
Save or restore a manual backup
A recovery key helps with a forgotten password. An encrypted backup stored outside this device protects against a lost phone, uninstall, or cleared storage. Save and verify a backup now.
Already included in my balance — history only
History only: recorded balances stay unchanged.
Link an existing expense
Save to record the expense and settle this bill. Linking an existing expense won’t deduct money again.
